LOST it’s finally here!!!

February 4, 2010 at 5:04 pm (TV)

I know this isn’t a movie, but it’s worthy enough to be talked about.

So ladies and gents it’s here, after 5 long years and so many questions still needing to be answered and it comes down to this last season of Lost. Back in 2004 Lost came out and just made TV not the same anymore, and now with season 6 here now and it’s the final season fans like me have this mix feeling of “yes it’s here” and “Wow there won’t be anymore Lost after this season”

So I watched the 2 hour special on the 2nd of February, and I won’t talk about what went on because I know some of you haven’t seen the episode yet… but I will say it was there best one yet. It had everything Lost is all about, and it did answer a few questions like what the “Black smoke is” That was one answer I’ve been waiting for. I will say this episode started out a little confusing but it didn’t take me long to get it all figured out. This season will be a bitter-sweet when it comes to May when the last episode will come. I don’t think there will be any show like Lost ever again. I mean there is always JJ Abrams show Fringe that is new and on it’s 2nd season which has gotten better, but it’s not Lost. I will also say that Lost is ending on a good note and ending the show on the best way it can.

Oscar debate

February 2, 2010 at 9:43 pm (Oscars)

So every year there are people who… well let’s just say they are very picky and have there two cents of who should win.Well let’s look back from the last few years now. The Oscars are not perfect, in fact there like a bad ref at a game. You never like what is called, but you still wait till the end to see who wins. I’ll give an example of how bad the Oscars can be at picking the winners. Back in 2007 there was a film called Transformers that blew everyone away with it’s  state of the art Visual Effect that was over seen by none other than Steven Spielberg who was the Producer of the film. Which grossed worldwide with $708,272,592 and when people read and heard that Transformers got a nominee for Best Visual Effects everyone knew this film would take it home. But no it didn’t instead  The Golden Compass won the Best Visual Effects. This may have been the biggest upset I’ve seen in my life. Now it’s 2010 and the Oscars are just about a Month away and in the Best Visual Effects category there are three very great films up for this award Avatar, District 9, and Star Trek. Anyone can take this home. I know a few people who worked on Avatar and Star Trek, and for me I’m hoping District 9 wins but I really have know clue on that because both films are great. I will say I wish if they added more into this category I could see Transformer: Revenge of The Fallen (not so good story line… thanks to Michael Bay, but amazing Visual Effects as always), Terminator Salvation, and 2012. With these films it would be perfect but we all know the Oscars wouldn’t do that. But this year will be the first to add in some Sci-Fi and a animation film into the Best Picture category. With Avatar, District 9, and UP

So let’s see which film will be robbed this year! I will say I don’t think Avatar will win all it’s nominations, but it will get the good ones… I know for District 9 it will be a good time, and Up will get Best Animation as always with what PIXAR can do.

The Return of Mel Gibson

January 27, 2010 at 4:50 pm (Uncategorized)

It’s been 8 or so years since Mel Gibson has been in front of the camera, and with his upcoming leading role in “The Edge of Darkness” that opens this Friday, we look back at what Mel Gibson has done in film. Yes he may have done some not so cool things in the last few years, but let’s put aside all those things and see what he has done in film. Mel has taken on some of the best roles in some very classic film such as the 1979 film “Mad Max” to being a bad ass crazy cop in the 1987 film “Lethal Weapon” from making one of the best guy films ever in the 1995 Academy award winning flm “Braveheart” to directing  a huge hit film in 2004 “The Passion of the Christ”

Yes we can say Mel Gibson hasn’t made the best choices in life as a world wide celebrity or as a person in fact, but if you think about it without him we wouldn’t have such great films that he has worked on. Yes I may sound like a fan of Mel and that is true, but I’m not writing this because of how great or how amazing his work is. I’m just respecting the films he has done in the decades of film. I will say he is someone who inspired me to do film. I think what he has done in film making is up there with some of the greatest film makers. I do think that his return as lead actor/bad ass role will be something that we have been waiting for.
